Åhus Visfestival - Jonas Helgesson

The Åhus Song Festival kicks off, filling the village with live music at a number of different venues. The festival starts on July 16 and ends with Eric Gadd on stage on July 18.

Jonas August comes from Åhus in Skåne, but now lives in Stockholm. His musical journey began quite recently – in November 2024, he made his first live appearance as a troubadour. In February 2025, he entered a studio for the first time, and in May he released his first single.

Jonas' music is melodic, simple, and playful, and is largely based on stories and moments from life. The first single is about a girl he didn't really understand – a story of contradictions and uncertainty. The next song is more reflective and touches on the contrasts of life: sadness, joy, and the realization that we only have the precious moment that is now. How we sometimes feel lost and lonely, but also how much we ourselves can influence our well-being.

Singing has always been a part of Jonas' life, but it took time before he dared to do anything more with it. It started with karaoke in front of friends, and eventually in front of an audience. For him, music is not a career choice, but a place where he can express himself, be free, and have fun—without trying to be anything other than himself.

The response from listeners means a lot and gives him the drive to continue. Jonas wants to make music all the time, play live, and create moments where people can feel something—whatever that may be. He doesn't have any big goals in mind, but sees music as a journey where every step is equally enjoyable.
