During this period of the year, shrimps change their shells and this means that they may look a little different than usual. During the shell change, the shrimp moves its main roe and adds its abdominal roe and the meat of the shrimp can become a little softer and harder to peel. The head roe is clearly visible as the shrimp turns slightly black at the head, but this is absolutely nothing dangerous, nor does it make the shrimp taste different or mean that it would be bad in any way.
We have fresh prawns in our shop, usually Wednesdays-Saturdays, almost every week.
